Exciting News! Please check our new entrants in the Awards List

As you know we have just announced The Great Exhibition 2012 Awards, providing businesses, towns, cities, attractions and undiscovered talents with the opportunity of being awarded the accolade “Best in Britain 2012”.

Once a “Great” has reached 100 votes it is automatically entered into the competition with the chance of winning the Accolade of “Best in Britain 2012”, we will also provide a free personalised poster to commemorate your 100 votes and to assist in publicising your “Great” gaining more votes, and increasing your chance of winning.

We have now 68 “Greats” that have made it onto our Awards list. Here are the latest entrants:

Wimbledon is an annual summer event held at the All England Club, London.  The first event took place in July 1977 and since has grown in popularity to capture an international audience.  Treasure Trails was founded in 2005 in Cornwall by Steve Ridd MBE.  There are over 800 Trails in the UK and thousands of people use them throughout the year.  The Royal Wedding, and event that captured over 24.5 million viewers, took place 29 April 2011 at Westminster Abbey.  It was a moment that made the nation proud to be British.  Rugby Union was founded in England in the early 19th century and has since become a worldwide sport.  Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding is one of the many favourite Sunday Roast dinners.  Made by the Hands of Britain has dedicated its website to the heritage and traditions of British craftsmanship.  They have created a community that champions traditional and contemporary producers.  Kents Cavern is Britain’s oldest prehistoric home in the English Riviera global geopark.  It provides a great day out regardless of what time of the year as the caves stay at a constant temperature of 14°C.  Jan Cavelle offers custom made furniture handcrafted in Suffolk.  Jan was nominated as a UK Female Entrepreneurship Ambassador and mentors new businesses on how to get started.  Jack Wills was launched in 1999 in Salcombe, Devon and since has made a name for itself internationally.  It takes its inspiration from British history, culture and sporting to make clothes that epitomise what it is to be young and Fabulously British.  Compton Verney was remodelled in the 1760s and is home to an award-winning art gallery.  The growing art collection holds pieces that are known nationally and internationally.  Crown Hotel, Harrogate has a history that spans over 300 years.  The hotel is situated in the heart of Harrogate so close to all the area has to offer.  Acolyte Home & Gifts is a family run web shop based in Cumbria. The Great Exhibition 2012 magazine “Great Britain Today”

The Great Exhibition 2012 are proud to announce the launch of our new online monthly magazine "Great Britain Today". This will offer a co-operative community platform that will promote all businesses, manufacturing, tourism destinations, attractions, festivals & celebrations throughout each of the 12 regions of Great Britain in 2012 & beyond for domestic and international promotion. Join your communities together and showcase the full offering in your town, village, city and region to generate business and tourism in Britain in 2012.

Editorial can be submitted for the first issue to Russell@thegreatexhibition2012.co.uk – whether it be a short news story about an individual, a small business or an article about what your region has on offer as a whole.  Please send in a word document together with photographs and we will help promote you to the growing number of people that are joining our collective co-operative community to support Britain and its industries and opportunities (issue one deadline 27/01/2012).
