Gloucester: Day 12 but TGE 2012 Adventure is not finished yet, even though the team is already crying…

It is Day 12 of our journey and... What a journey!

Today the Team headed to Gloucester - an amazing historic, multicultural city, home of some equally great landmarks such as the Gloucester Cathedral, the astonishing Forest of Dean and the Costwold Hills.

While staying in Gloucester the team visited some pretty fantastic places starting with a great visit to The Edward Hotel gallery art - this amazing family run Hotel has a wonderful gallery with a diversity of pictures that ‘rattle the brain cells of many sleepy breakfast goers’. It is without any doubts a great place to stay.

With a population of around 110.000, Gloucester is steeped in history and it offers a variety of things to do, for all your needs and dreams of a fantastic break.

Confirmed in first hand by the TGE 2012 Adventure, Gloucester is undoubtedly a city surrounded by a signs of an epic history, Roman foundations, Victorian docklands and an AMAZING Norman Cathedral featured in many Harry Porter films.

Are you getting an idea of how great it is?

During our stay, the team visited many other places and remembered emblematic personalities such as Robert Raikes click here

But, continuing with the lovely people from Gloucester, when arriving at Gloucester Rugby Club, team was greeted the famous Rugby player - Nick Wood click here, who gave a fantastic interview and showed us the magnicient Gloucester Rugby Club click here - another intrinsic symbol of English culture.

Another Gloucester legend - Mr. Clive... A Great of Great Britain!

But our journey did not end here, it just started… However, before heading to their next stop, the team went to city centre and saw the clocks in the town - one of Gloucester landmarks that are very close to The Great Exhibition founder - Julie Benson who remember seeing them when visiting her Grandparents as a child 'It has always been something that fills me with happiness and it is so simple' (Julie Benson).

In fact Julie's Grandma is a testimonial of how great the people of Gloucester are. Julie's grandma, today at the age of 91 is a Great in herself - She has lived in Gloucester all her life apart from when she went to work in the Fever hospital in London at the age of 14 during the war – she returned to be reunited with Julie's Grandfather who was in the Navy. They were married until he died 27 years ago and they always lived in and loved Gloucester!

But returning to our journey...

Next stop, Wine! Yes, it is not a mistake, you’ve read it right. Wine! Another great discovery and pleasant surprise coming from Gloucester.

Situated on a unspoilt countrysideIn is 'The Three Choirs Vineyard' is one of England’s best-known vineyards, award-winning and one of England’s hidden treasures .

A most see in Gloucester! For more information or to Vote for it click here

Unfortunately at one time the day had to end...

To finish with a grand finale the team visited ‘The Tailor of Gloucester’ shop that celebrates the famous Beatrix Potter click here and the wonderful ‘The Folk Museum’ one of the oldest-established museums dedicated to social history, with its collections being a result of gifts from Gloucestershire, representing one of the most fascinating collections of such material click here

Before finishing this breif note on this amazing day, we would like to leave a Big Thank you to BBC Gloucester and Stephen Holford that joined us in a fantastic Radio Interview where we were able to praise Gloucester for their kindness.

Another Big Thank goes to Brian George  - our lovely driver and a very important member of the team.

With open arms, Brian's family received in their home our four roving reporters. Not only they were treated as family but, they also enjoyed some lovely comfort food prepared by Brain's wife who cooked a fantastic roast dinner for the team.

The whole family was incredible and made the team feel at home. Thank you Brian!
