Dyfi Osprey Project

Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust established the Dyfi Osprey Project to encourage breeding pairs of ospreys on the River Dyfi in Mid Wales.
Last summer, a pair of ospreys bred for the first time on the Dyfi since 1604 and three chicks hatched.
A website -http://www.dyfiospreyproject.com/home - has been built to provide a wealth of information about the Dyfi ospreys, including details of the migration journeys of the three youngsters - Leri, Dulas and Einion.
There are also bios of all the Dyfi ospreys, loads of stats for the scientifically minded as well as a gallery brimming full of osprey images and videos as well four blogs to keep you up to date.
Cors Dyfi (Dyfi bog) is a wonderful little wildife reserve that is teaming with wildlife for most of the year. This is where the Dyfi Osprey Project is situated.
The project is based on the Cors Dyfi nature reserve.Once estuary, reclaimed grazing, then conifer plantation and finally wildlife-rich wetland, the land at Cors Dyfi has seen many changes over the last few hundred years. Today the reserve is a healthy mixture of bog, swamp, wet woodland and scrub supporting a plethora of animals and plants. If you're lucky, you may also spot an otter or dormouse!
The ospreys are typically around from April to September. Spring and summer are also the best times to see many of Cors Dyfi’s other plants and animals, such as Common Lizard, Nightjar, Grasshopper, Reed and Sedge Warblers, Yellow Flag and Four-spotted Chaser. The Trust’s Water Buffalo graze the reserve during the Summer.
Nearby is the RSPB's Ynys Hir Reserve where BBC Springwatch has established a base.
