Janis Sharp

For almost ten years, Janis Sharp has been fighting tirelessly for justice for her son, Gary McKinnon.

Gary, who suffers from Asperger's Syndrome, is the subject of an extradition request from the USA for allegedly causing damage to US military computers - despite there not being a shred of evidence for this, and despite the legislation allowing extradition without evidence being applied retrospectively (and in contravention of the ECHR).

For the last nine years, Gary and his family have been denied justice, instead forced to live under the threat of Gary's extradition for an offence that by all accounts never even occurred.

For the last nine years, Janis has devoted her life to fighting for justice for her son and the UK's other victims of unjust extradition. By drawing attention to the UK's appallingly unjust extradition legislation, she is standing up for justice and human rights for all UK citizens. With the law as it stands, it could happen to any one of us. Without Janis, most of us wouldn't even be aware there was a problem.
