Today, the commitment to maintain and develop the beauty of
the Gardens remains, but there is an increasing emphasis on
research, conservation and education of the public - areas
reflecting Bulley's original interests. In addition, there
has been an increased emphasis on educating schoolchildren,
with a four-fold increase in school visits. On a larger
scale, a new £2 million Visitor Centre opened in 2006,
featuring a central courtyard area with reception, indoor
cafe with outside garden area, shop, lecture

Should be a 'great' because it is maintaining traditional standards in changing and challenging times as well as improving and developing to appeal to current tastes and leisure requirements. JMW

It must be included in the "Greats" for its unique collections of Sorbus, Betula, Rhododendrons and Camellias

I think 'gardengirl' has put the glory of Ness very concisely. I also enjoy the feeling of space, even on busy days there are some lovely quiet spots and opportunities for a picnic while enjoying the views across to Wales. Car parking is free too.

A wonderful garden at any time of year - always something new to see. Lovely views across the River Dee and pleasant walks in the grounds. Woodland walks with numerous camelias and rhododendrons, stroll around the diverse vegetable garden and admire the long perennial border which is full of colourful plants.Discover the grass maze and find the dinosaur amongst the plantlife. Find the ex battery hens who are regaining their health and plumage and starting to learn how to be a hen again in their new spacious home. Finish with a browse around the garden shop and garden centre and a coffee in the lovely cafe. So many different experiences in one place I love visiting Ness Gardens all year round.
