After years of painting animals I wanted to create them in 3D somehow and a siting kiln for firing clay wasn't really an option. One day I started to 'scribble' with some old garden wire from the garden and experimented with shapes and eventually created a Hare. I sold the experimental sculpture at the Marwell Zoo exhibition in 2008 and my enthusiasm just grew. I wanted to add a 'skin' to the next one and kept refining it until it evolved into these original creature creations. Look closely and you will discover that the sculptures have not been painted at all, but have been finished with a ’skin’ of coloured papers.
