What is The Great Exhibition?

In The Great Exhibition 1851 we competed against the world in the exhibition of all nations with Britain as Host Nation. In 2012 we are the Host Nation for the largest sporting competition in the World and the platform from which the Queen will celebrate her Diamond Jubilee. 2012 truly is the year to remind ourselves and rejoice in all that is “Great” about Great Britain in the 21st Century.

The Great Exhibition 2012 would like to invite the whole of the Country to join our online community and to nominate their own personal ‘Great’ of Great Britain. This can be done by registering as an Ambassador, creating a “Great” and sharing your videos, photographs, and stories with the Nation and encouraging your community to vote for you – we want you to tell us what/who/where you think is “Great”.

The Virtual Online Exhibition is an opportunity for Britain to promote our industries, our creative talents, our tourism and the people that make Britain “Great”.

Julie Benson CEO founded The Great Exhibition Co UK Ltd and launched the Great Exhibition 2012 when Britain was announced as the winner to host the Olympics. She wanted to capture the desire to celebrate Britain as a whole and to highlight all its achievements whilst we have the eyes of the world upon us. She wanted to ensure that all aspects of British life were catered for and that the British public had their say in what they believed made this country Great.

On February 1st 2012 registration will be open for visitors and exhibitors, media information will be published online.

Why join this celebration?

By putting your “Great” on The Great Exhibition 2012 interactive map, you are supporting your region and promoting its products, places and people to the world. By encouraging votes and entering our Awards scheme, businesses and individuals can showcase their products and talents for free and win the chance of being awarded the Accolade of Best in Britain.

The “Greats” of Great Britain, as voted by you, will be represented in the Virtual Online Exhibition which will cover all aspects of British society and culture, including favorite landscapes and coastlines, attractions and architecture, industry and commerce, people and customs, food and drink, cities, towns and villages, as well as our wealth of talented people – both famous and undiscovered – you choose whatever or whoever to celebrate in your region.
